GOOGLE PIXEL BUDS (2020)
$179 (around 13,500), store.google.com
- Google's previous set of Pixel Buds had, shall we say. a couple of design issues.
- They were tethered together at a time when AirPods were cutting out wires entirely, and their mushroom-like design poked out of your ears in a most unbecoming manner.
- The revised Buds correct those flaws - they're true wireless, cut down in size significantly for an incredibly discreet in-ear appearance, and they maintain the core features that made the last set so good.
- The Google Assistant is always listening, and provided your phone has a live internet connection you'll be able to get live translation, perfect for travel use.
- There may still be some work to do, though: there's no ANC, and the sound leans towards the mids and high-end, at least until Google introduces some kind of software EQ.
- A major design improvement, although the true wireless space is full of gems.
